Project Description

Luxury Wood Flooring was commissioned to undertake a high-end flooring project in a period apartment in the heart of Clerkenwell, London. The scope combined restoration of existing herringbone parquet with precision new installation. The entrance hall and two bedrooms required complete replacement of existing carpet with solid oak parquet, while the living room needed localised repair work around a window to restore damaged original flooring.

The client requested a seamless finish across old and new areas, with all flooring sanded, polished, and protected as a single continuous surface. The project demanded careful substrate preparation, appropriate herringbone patterning with double-block borders, and full bonding using flexible adhesives to ensure long-term stability.

Removal & disposal of existing carpet, carpet grippers, and underlay.
Substrate preparation – base made good and levelled using self-levelling compound.
Primer application – liquid epoxy resin primer supplied and applied to improve bond between the base and new flooring.
Supply & installation of solid oak parquet blocks (22 x 70 x 350mm, prime grade, square edge, unfinished).
Herringbone pattern laid with double-block border around the perimeter of each area.
Full bonding of parquet to substrate using flexible parquet adhesive.
Localised repair works carried out around the window area (exact m² TBC on site).
Like-for-like restoration to match the character and quality of the original parquet.
Finishing & Protection (Entire Flooring Area – New & Existing)
Full sanding & polishing of all newly laid and existing flooring to create a unified surface.
Two coats of clear hard wax oil applied for durable, natural protection and a matte, breathable finish.
Supply & installation of square edge profile MDF skirting around all perimeter edges to cover expansion gaps.
Skirting left prepared for filling and painting (painting not included in this quote).
Temporary protection of common parts of the building for the duration of the works, ensuring minimal disruption to neighbours and shared access areas.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I want to compliment you on your firm’s recent service for us.
As an example, your specialists were helpful in dealing with our old carpets. When the old carpet along the corridor was removed, though the floor was concrete, there were a lot of old materials and also wires to be removed and a thorough preparation had to be done before laying the parquet flooring. Two, sometimes, three very helpful specialists from your firm - or associated with you - worked energetically to sort out the problem and implement the client’ s (i.e. our) wishes and preferences. Their guidance as regards the maintenance of the wood flooring was very helpful.

We are satisfied with the result and we will be pleased to recommend Luxury Wood Flooring to potential clients.

Excellent service from start to finish. Meticulous and punctual work - the team finished one day earlier and cleaned after themselves. Highly recommended!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Luxury Wood Flooring were our Christmas saviors! Our previous contractor failed to sand and varnish our floors properly, leaving us in a tough spot just before the holidays. We needed someone to redo everything and finish by Christmas. Steven and his team did an amazing job restoring our wooden floors, completing the work on time, and leaving the premises spotless. We’re really pleased with the results and their professional approach.
